متن کاملPatterns in size and shedding of Fasciola hepatica eggs by naturally and experimentally infected murid rodents.
Using samples collected on the island of Corsica, a comparative study was done of the morphometry of Fasciola hepatica eggs shed by cattle and by naturally and experimentally infected murid rodents (wild Mus musculus and Rattus rattus and Rattus norvegicus Wistar laboratory strain). Eggs shed by murids are smaller in size than those shed by naturally infected cattle. A second study analyzed the...
متن کاملHematological and Cerebrospinal Fluid Changes in Cattle Naturally and Experimentally Infected with the Bovine Herpesvirus 5
Bovine herpesvirus 5 (BoHV-5) meningoencephalitis is one of the main causes of mortality by encephalopathy in Brazilian cattle herds. However, the neurological signs observed are common to several encephalopathies and do not contribute decisively to a diagnosis. In order to verify hematological and cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) changes, blood and CSF samples from naturally and experimentally infect...
متن کاملComparative tests for detection of plague antigen and antibody in experimentally infected wild rodents.
The enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) was compared with other standard tests for detection of plague (Yersinia pestis) antibody and antigen in multimammate mice (Mastomys coucha and M. natalensis) which were experimentally infected and then killed at daily intervals postinoculation. For detection of antibody in sera from M. natalensis, the immunoglobulin G (IgG) ELISA was equivalent in ...
متن کاملArenavirus Diversity and Phylogeography of Mastomys natalensis Rodents, Nigeria
Mastomys natalensis rodents are natural hosts for Lassa virus (LASV). Detection of LASV in 2 mitochondrial phylogroups of the rodent near the Niger and Benue Rivers in Nigeria underlines the potential for LASV emergence in fresh phylogroups of this rodent. A Mobala-like sequence was also detected in eastern Nigeria.
